Probably the most disliked thing about
Disneyland is the queuing for rides. Disneyland is famous for it! While queuing at Disneyland is not
the reason anyone visit's Disneyland they have mastered the art and do it better
Themed & decorated
Some attractions line up areas are so well decorated that they become part
of the attractions and are genuinely exciting to stand it. All designed to
make your wait les tedious
eg. Star Tours, Indian Jones, Roger Rabbit
By curving the line up area around multiple corners makes it psychologically
shorter. You can't see the end of the line meaning you don't know how
far you really have to travel and by the time you figure it out you're
there! Sound's mean, but it works!
eg. Indian Jones, Roger Rabbit cartoon spin
Lines move quickly due to their well organised dispatch method in the
loading area of each attraction. This means you don't stand
in the one spot without moving forward usually for any more than 20
seconds. Unlike a large grocery store line.
eg. most attractions
There are a few things you can do
to minimise your waiting time in lines:
Do your park research, find
the park will be less busy
Do your attraction research,
find out when
attractions have shorter lines
Arrive early in the morning
Stay right up until closing time
Go on attractions
during parade times,
Visit on a rainy day.
There are such things as Single Rider
Lines on some attractions which move much faster; available on
Splash Mtn and Indiana Jones. DCA has Ca Soarin',
Maliboomer, Mullholland Madness and GRR.
Disneyland (and WDW) has introduced a system
which is designed to cut back on your waiting times in long lines. It's called FastPass. basically
a machine gives you a ticket with
a time frame to return on it that allows you to ride an attraction without
waiting in a long line.
FastPass machines are
currently located at:
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
- Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters
- Haunted Mansion
- Indiana Jones Adventure
- Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin
- Splash Mountain
- Star Tours
- California Screamin'
- Grizzly River Run
- Mulholland Madness
- Soarin' Over California
- The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

Things to do while queuing
Sometimes you have no choice on the time of
year you can visit and you may have just discovered that you're planing to visit
during a high attendance
time. If this is the case, you will inevitably end up waiting over an hour for
some attractions. If you are taking younger children it will feel like even
longer! (also to those next to you in line). The way to make the waiting a
little less tedious is to play some games or do some activities. Here's
an innovative product designed for theme park queuing.
