17 reasons why Disneyland's so magical!

According to Disneyland's slogan it is "The happiest place on earth" and most people agree but how does Disneyland obtain and maintain  this title?

  1. Different intentions
Most fun parks are built for thrills, action, hair raising experiences where most of the rides are designed to give you an adrenaline rush by using speed and upside-down/spinning rides.
However Disneyland is built for magical enjoyment. It is a special effects, theme rides park where nearly all of the rides are designed to tell a story, show off some special effects and make you forget about the real world for a moment and be whisked away to a 'fantasy' land. Disneyland itself has no up-side-down rides and  even the Haunted mansion is built for effects and not scares!  "Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow and fantasy"

  2. Detail
Many parks do not pay a lot of attention to detail. Their park is clean and the buildings are pretty however their rides are not pleasing to the eye in every aspect. For example, rides can be a mass of steel, pipes, stairways and fences. If Disney were to make an equivalent ride there would be many things to see along the ride and there would not be any sight of backstage stairs up the roller coaster or fences around different parts of the ride. Disneyland is an extreme of perfect. Every thing has to be perfect. Everywhere you look or go there will be something that is pleasing to the eye, amusing or fits in with the theme of the land. All attractions have great detail on them and are maintained all the time. Every ride is closed sometime every year and they replace things and rebuild things. Apparently every hour the cast members (people running the rides) go on the ride they are running and use a check list to see if everything is working perfectly. Every hour! and if something is wrong they send someone to fix the problem straight away. No matter how small the 'problem'.

  3. Effects
With out doubt one of the best things about Disneyland is the special effects. On rides such as the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones, Star Tours (I could go on). The special FX are amazing making the unbelievable something you just saw!

  4. Sense-sation!
Every one of your senses at Disneyland works overtime!
    1. Sight, Disneyland is a visual feast! Whether it be the illusions of the Haunted Mansion, the special effects of Indiana Jones, movement of Pirates of the Caribbean & Mr Lincoln, the colour of Toontown or the lights at night with fireworks, it's all amazing!

    2. Sound, Disneyland has a huge advantage being able to use the award winning music all kids have grown up with from their movies. every attraction is filled with a song you know. Also the ambient music throughout the park fits the themes of different lands, queuing areas and even out the front of Disneyland. It's a subconscious 'happy trigger' throughout the park.

    3. Touch/feel, of course there are the thrill rides like Splash/ Space Mountain and the Teacups which can make some peoples stomaches leave them but there's also the star tours simulator and the great automated movement of Indiana Jones adventure that make you feel amazingly realistic movement. Getting wet on attractions is also used as a touch effect on a few rides and even the presence of wind ruching past you is used in Indiana Jones!

    4. Smell, Disneyland has distinct ride smells! Whether it be the Haunted Mansion's cold musty smell, Splash Mountain's rabbit hole smell or Mr Toads wild ride's 'smell of hell', it's another subconscious medium Disney uses to great effect. This along with the smell of the various food stores scattered around the park also tickles your nose.

    5. Taste, You don't get much opportunity to taste Disneyland attractions, well not unless you keep you mouth opened for the entire drop on Splash Mountain. However there are many, many varieties of restaurants and food stores of all kinds and tastes that will suite everyone's taste buds!

  5. Clean & Tidy
Unlike the real world the paths are so clean, There are cleaners everywhere, which you don't notice, frantically searching for something to pick up to make you stay more 'perfect'.

  6. Theme & stories
With Disney's films and characters there are so many themes and story's it can use, that we all already know and love. They come alive right before our eyes, turning our fantasies into real life for a moment.

  7. Money
The prices are expensive in Disneyland but you're paying for the world's best. Disney has a lot to spend and can do a job right. They even spent $100 million on the Indiana Jones ride alone! Disneyland has a much bigger budget to spend on pleasing you than most other parks.

  8. Expectations & Reputation
Have you ever wondered why that nearly every second competition has the major prize of a trip to Disneyland? (in Australia anyway). Kids have grown up with Disney characters and to visit there 'home' would be unbelievable!

  9. Size
Disneyland has packed over 60 attractions in its 85 acres. It's recommended you need 2+ days to see it all! (and this doesn't include California Adventure next door!)

  10. Home sweet home
For many of us, we have grown up visiting Disneyland. When you get there a sensation of "(Sigh), I'm Back!" hit's you. It's so good to get home after a long time away. A place you're familiar with and everyone seems to be there for you.

  11. The PEOPLE
The Cast Members treat we Guests (the use of those terms says a lot) like we're family and honoured visitors at the same time. They are always helpful, never rude (tho I bet they may want to be sometimes) and LOVE their jobs. This makes all interactions with them almost as fun as the rides themselves. I can't tell you how many enjoyable conversations I've had with them. Bless them! Tery S. in Washington

  12. Romance
Many, many, people have either proposed or started a relationship at Disneyland. It's a  magical place where the mixture of 'perfection' around the park often puts a felling of love in the air.  There's even wedding packages where you can get married inside Disneyland, if you have the money!   Fawnn

  13. Variation
There are fast rides, there are slow rides, there are spinning rides, there are walk throughs, there are informative attractions, there are story telling rides, there are stage shows, there are parades and there is more! There is so much variation and something for everyone!

  14. Sentimental's
Disneyland in California was created by Walt Disney himself. He has walked the paths and ridden the rides. It was his first theme park. The oldest and original Disney theme park and always will be.

  15. For the family
Disneyland is for everyone, It's aimed at the family. Kids and Adults can both have a fantastic time. Wether you are 80 or 10 years old you could both go on the same ride and have an equally great time together. For the ultimate Holiday I recommend you take your children to Disneyland!

  16. Loosening up
As you walk under the bridge grumpy grouching kids can all of a sudden find amusement in their heart and the "bossy old parents" soon let off a bit and let Disney do the entertaining. Zimmerman

  17. To infinity and beyond!
As Walt Disney said himself, "Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world."
