Scotttie's Disneyland Costume
21'st Birthday Party
13th of December 1998
My invitation was created like a
'Disneyland Today' guide with a map, and time table. It had a gift request
list and a
list of Disney characters that people could come as. It looked quite effective, even if I
do say so myself!
I'm sure you have seen this before. It's usually
found as you enter Disneyland (DL) but this time it was out the front of my very own DL.
After this sign you went through a dark material tunnel with fairy lights and the music 'When
You Wish Upon a Star' playing as you entered..
This was Critter Country, it had a mounted Brer
Rabbit, Brer Fox and Brer Bear (which was actually a wombat).
The Splash Mountain poster on the was measured about 5 foot by 6 foot. I got a
church
friend (thanks Chris) to Enlarge a heap of DL photos for me, they are huge and looked fantastic!!
Toontown had lots of those long balloons
which
everyone loved trying to create animals out of when it came time to pull them down. Again
another large image about 5 foot by 3 foot. I'm on the roller coaster pictured
and you can actually download a video (on my Disney download page) of the very
run shown here, it was videoed at the same time the photo was taken!) I'm second
row back on the pictured right with the grey and white t- shirt and cream hat
on.
Tomorrow land had my computer running a Disneyland
interactive I made on it. You clicked on the map where a ride was and it ran a little show of music, images and
video from Disneyland all about that ride. It was also running a morph of me from pre-school to
graduation. Looked quite effective. For those who were not faint at heat got a go on my 'splat
a cat' game where the idea is to shoot cats running along a fence. (Feral cats of
course!! :-)
There's a large pic of C3PO from star tours
on the wall and one of those electric crystal balls on the table that follow
your hand when you touch it.
I also had a fantasy land with a huge
castle picture on the wall and I had a
"Pooh Corner" which was where the door was leading to the toilets..
There's a
jungle cruise too in another room with lots of green stuff and more mounted
animals and jungle music looping all night in there. The queuing area through
the Jungle cruise for the
meals where everyone had to line up for their takeaway food.
This was me. I came as George of the Jungle and no
I'm not singing in this photo. People had great delight in trying to pull out my chest
hairs or seeing if I was wearing anything else under my costume. My bride to be made it,
cool hey?
The funny thing is that George is wearing this on the little movie logo of him splattered
on a tree, but he never wears this in the move. I wasn't going to run around in shredded
Speedo's though like he does!! ( I'm wearing a wig too, I have short hair in real
life)

"Tinkabelle" and Princess Jasmine (is that
Peter pan in the background?)

Yep! It's Peter Pan!

Robin Hood showing off his tights!

This couple got voted the popular peoples choice of
best costume.
I'm not sure what they used to fill their pants.

A Cinderella with her Fairy God Mother

The fairy God Mother and a Genie (my grandparents)

Great Nana Mouse! over 90 years old!!!

An absent minded person trying to control some green
goo (Flubber).

Err mice?

Some more mice

Quick get the Mouse Traps!! They're
breeding fast!

Either Pinocchio or Mr Squiggle

Beauty and the Hairy Scary Monster!

Snow white, the Wicked Witch and the world's tallest
dwarf.

Captain hook, Robin Hood, It's a small world, the
White Wabbit and one of those cards out of Alice in Wonder land.

A tourist with pooh following her

Wouldn't be DL without more tourists!

Me and Ursula (my wife as of '99!)
Adventureland behind us had a mounted crocodile,
feral pig, snake, dingo and eagle.

A very Ugly Sister.

MMMMMM, The cake!
Behind the pink and yellow curtains was a surround
sound, cinema
seating 55 people. We watched a home video compilation of highlights
of my life for the first video. The night time finale was a show called Fantasmic! I had a
black light, like they use in all the rides and a big, fluorescent sign over the
screen which glowed while everyone was entering.
The music was the actual sound track of Fantasmic! computer cut and shortened to 10 minutes.
As the music started I had an
old police rotating light that came on just like the lights in the real show. As
we started only 4 speaker were running in stereo, with the fist 'bla!' as the Fantasmic!
music fully starts first I tuned on the remaining 10 or so speakers in the cinema.
In the part of the music where the whale crashes and fireworks float down we threw
confetti over everyone that glowed with the black light. The images fitted the moods of the music. The themes through the music,
not written in order, were: Musical Me (opening trumpets, which I can
play), Animals and pets, Been There Done That (jungle music), Dislikes (evil
music where the dragon appears), Collections (Pinocchio puppet scene music),
Rachel then, Rachel and me (beauty and the beast), Adventurer (elephant music) ,
Heroes (end music) and Roller
Coasters (just before the end music). It went awesomely well and everyone enjoyed the
show, most saying it was their highlight, just like it is in Disneyland for many
I guess. The movie was dedicated to my parents who have made my
childhood life style possible!
