EXCURSIONS

Rickett's Point, Beaumaris, beach excursions. The day includes a sealife display, discussion about animal identification, safety, food-chains and the human impact on the ecosystem, then 'hands-on' exploring of inter-tidal zones & rockpool life

Searching along the high tide zone for shells and shark egg-cases.

In February, March and December, Andrew Wegener will meet your group at Rickett's Point, and conduct a day of coastal studies activities.

Identification charts are provided

Andrew explains what creatures should not be touched, the names and characteristics of animals that are likely to be seen, how to safely observe animals. ALL LIVE ANIMALS ARE RETURNED TO THEIR HABITAT.

Searching for pondlife

Visits to near by lakes and wetlands can be arranged. On these outings children learn all about what lives in and on the water.
Explanation of how to find and observe pondlife as well as identification charts are provided.

Andrew presents information about Minibeasts, identification charts, live and preserved specimens to observe and leads activities to discover the range of Minibeasts that may be found within the school environment.
